This is the final shot from my trip at Buttermilk falls state park in Ithaca NY. I think I actually like my shot from the last time a little better. That one got me first prize in waterscapes at our county fair last year.
Seems like it's been so dry everywhere this year, so I guess none of the falls are extraordinarily impressive, but I do appreciate the trickles and low water for some! I really wanted to see Taughannock Falls, but I was warned by a friend that it can be a only a trickle during dryer times.
Yeah, there was a good two weeks where it pretty much never rained here. I here you, sometimes the trickles look really nice. Toughannock is a beauty but it was for the best that you avoided it, there would have been no water at all coming down. I've seen that fall at all extremes, it's very impressive when it's raging.
Toughannok relies heavily on rain fall. So in this case, with the drought, it's bone dry. When I saw it raging it had rained heavily for nearly a week. It rained so much I couldn't even walk up the trail to the base because it caused a landslide.
I will definitely have to play a trip during the spring or fall to see Toughannok. The first time I went to the finger lake region, it rained the entire time and I had left my tripod at home, so I didn't get the chance to do anything.
